See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Spice-J’s Magical NYC Adventure

So even a few days later, I can’t even begin to describe all the awesome that occurred during robot houseguest week. So I’m just going to list a few highlights and post a few photos and call it a day. Deal? Good.

My mohawked faux-brother arrived on the afternoon of the 11th, and was fortunately not arrested for any mid-air bathroom breaks. Our first stop for the evening was Boka on St Mark’s for delicious Korean fried chicken followed by Kitty Nights at Mug Lounge, where my BDF Schaffer the Darklord was hosting and my favorite pretty lady Mags was performing and lots of other awesome people were there to observe and drink. All of this was great.

Look what I found at the airport!

Monday night’s festivities consisted of delicious Japanese foods and make-your-own cotton candy at Kenka, which is perhaps my new favorite place in the world. $8 Sapporo pitchers, really amazing katsu curry, and they have something called bukkake udon. Just think about that for a minute.

We also saw Contagion, which I enjoyed despite the fact that it made me want to buy a gas mask, a sack of rice, and a gun. And then it was time for more cheap beers and poor decisions at Off the Wagon.

Tuesday night was birthday drinks for Lefty Lucy at Home Sweet Home (avoid the frozen margaritas) followed by a crazy launch party for Play Me Burlesque, a set of playing cards on which many lovely ladies of my acquaintance are featured. It is my opinion that you should purchase a set of these cards as soon as you are able.

On Wednesday my robot sibling and I met up with Muffins and Linda and my new BFF Sara to sample the Nashville-style hot chicken at Peaches HotHouse in Bed-Stuy. Even the Tennessee tastebuds among us agreed that it was excellent - Spice-J ordered the extra-hot while I stuck to just hot, and found it less greasy and just a touch sweeter than the chicken I sampled at Pepperfire during my Nashville trip in July. I will definitely be back.

And then of course more drinks and inventive popcorn-throwing games at High Dive.

Thursday night was a little more relaxed - I had an errand to run in Williamsburg, so we met up with Linda for dinner at The Meatball Shop (try the spicy pork meatballs and the whiskey float) and then headed back to my Brooklyn lair for homemade cocktails and Minecraft and moonshine cherries.

Friday’s main event was the Miss Coney Island burlesque pageant where we were sad to see Lefty’s reign end but totally psyched that our friend BB Heart won with by far the best bunny-related act I’ve ever seen. She’s so fancy I can hardly stand it.

And on Saturday, the last night of the Magical NYC Adventure, our destination was Lefty’s birthday party which was delightful and fun right up until the point where I blacked out. I can’t remember anything after that so let’s just assume it was still delightful and fun afterward, too! I’m sure that’s exactly what happened.

Anyway I am certainly sad that my robot sibling has now left my city once more, but I have to say, I couldn’t really ask for a more awesome week.
