I can’t believe I forgot to post this with the Epic Win Burlesque pics. These two fine gentlemen are the hosts of the troupe that brought you shows such as Video Game Vixens and Rater R for Violence. The on-stage chemistry between these two is kind of inspiring. I’ve gotten to know them pretty well and can honestly say they are two of the hardest working guys in this business. Both of them manage work with the Burlesque troupe, have full time jobs, and are professional performers. Oh… and they are always willing to take fun photos with me. Let’s talk about Epic Win Burlesque for just a moment, shall we? Here are four facts you may not know about NYC’s nerdiest burlesque troop:

  1. Epic Win is hosted by two people: magician and all around fancy guy Nelson Lugo, and the one and only Schaffer the Darklord, with whose rapping prowess you are no doubt already familiar.
  2. Nerdapalooza 2011, the awkwardly-named music festival for which I am leaving tomorrow morning and at which I already know I will see many of you, is in fact being hosted by Epic Win, and there will be a burlesque show on Saturday night after The Protomen.
  3. Last fall’s wildly popular Star Trek vs Star Wars show has been accepted to FringeNYC, the enormous local theatre festival that starts very soon. New Yorkers will have five chances to see the show along with dozens upon dozens of other awesome productions, and I strongly recommend that you do so. 
  4. I will be working on the Epic Win Fringe shows. Not in a boob-showing capacity, but in a getting-lots-of-shit-done sort of way that means you will probably get to see me and say hi if you come to one of our Fringe performances.

If you are not yet convinced of the dire importance of attending either the Nerdapalooza performance or one (or all) of the FringeNYC performances, perhaps more videos will sway you. Either way, I hope to see you there!

Let’s take a break from talking about bands and look at some photos of my favorite people ever, the ladies of Epic Win Burlesque. For those of you who don’t know, Epic Win is the creme-de-la-dork of Burlesque. They love video games, zombies, and amazing movies and it’s not everyday that you can have an amazingly sexy argument over the finer points of Star Trek and Star Wars. I’ve gotten to know them pretty well over the past few years and it was a total pleasure to watch them perform at Nerdapalooza. This was one of the highlight acts and completely packed the room after midnight on Day one. Love it. Were you aware that you still have three more chances to see Epic Win Burlesque at the Fringe Festival? It’s true! We have shows tonight at 5:15pm, tomorrow at 9:15pm, and Saturday at 5:45pm, all at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E 4th St between Bowery and 2nd). All three shows will have tickets available at the door.

Come see Schaffer and Lugo debate the merits of Star Wars and Star Trek while lovely ladies get nearly naked. Tonight’s lineup includes Lefty Lucy, Nasty Canasta, Miss Mary Cyn, BB Heart, Fem Appeal, and Rosey la Rouge.

Last night was pretty much a perfect New York evening, the kind that makes me happier than I can say with my life as it is right now. And I don’t think there’s a better way to spend the evening of the 4th than at a picnic on the roof of the McKittrick, watching fireworks with friends & fellow drunks.

eleven years ago tonight! I believe this was the only 4th of july event the mckittrick has ever had, and it was also the first event held at gallow green.
