Sleep No More #9

Another unexpected last-minute visit. I guess the benefit to never shutting up about this show is that all your friends think of you when they end up with an extra ticket. Though it was unplanned, I was pleased I got to go this week before Kelly Bartnik and Eric Jackson Bradley leave us for a while. It was good to see them both in the show and at the bar afterwards.

I started on the third floor, where I actually caught Macbeth (Eric) without anyone else around for maybe the first time ever. I’d never seen that particular bit of his cycle, in the area near the graveyard, so that was a nice way to start.

After the ball, I stopped by the hotel lobby to see who was playing Porter (Matty Oaks) and ended up arriving just as his phone booth scene with Boy Witch (Nick Bruder) was starting. No one else was around, so I stayed to watch, then got pulled into his office for the 1:1.

The bulk of the evening I spent on the 4th floor, trailing Hecate (Careena) and the Cunning Man (Zach McNally), helping Boy Witch dress, and watching various scenes I hadn’t seen in a while. Still no visit to Hecate’s lair, but she did give me the ring from her dinner, so I can hardly complain.

Tony Bordonaro was the Barman, a role I hadn’t seen him in before, so I spent some time in the speakeasy and was rewarded with a shot and a dance. Two girls who were also in the room found me in the bar later and wanted to know if the shot was really liquor (it was, of course).

Before I knew it, it was nearly 10:30 again, and Zach was escorting me to the ballroom before disappearing into the crowd. Matty found me after the hanging and walked me out, which was a lovely way to end the show. I spent probably more time than I should have drinking and chatting in the Manderley afterward (given it was only a Tuesday night), but all in all it was a wholly satisfying night. I’ll be back next week.
