Last night was pretty much a perfect New York evening, the kind that makes me happier than I can say with my life as it is right now. And I don’t think there’s a better way to spend the evening of the 4th than at a picnic on the roof of the McKittrick, watching fireworks with friends & fellow drunks.

Symphony Space sent out some photos to attendees of the Selected Shorts: Welcome to Night Vale show, and they are pretty great.
No big deal, just Cecil doing the Night Vale community calendar on the goddamn Late Show.
The rest of the segment is available here and you should watch that too probably.
What a pleasant evening! My delayed preorder copy of the hardcover (not pictured) and audiobook (above) showed up about an hour before I had to leave for the event so I didn’t have to stop at a store and buy a last-minute copy after all.
The reading was perfect, Lev Grossman was great, and we learned so much new information, like Joseph’s stance on artisanal cheese (sort of hunched over, to reduce the distance between cheese and mouth), what Jeffrey would like to cosplay (a hooded figure), and who Cecil ships (old woman Josie and all of the angels). All in all, a successful night.
Last night I went to see the Best Of 2016 edition of TMLMTBGB with @nyneofuturists, which was also the Last Of Ever edition. I have a lot of feelings about it but I’m really glad I was able to be in the room, the show was everything I have ever loved about TML. If you were not able to be in the room or if you maybe want to watch the show again anyway, the whole thing is on Facebook.
TMLMTBGB on Saturday included a surprising quantity of guacamole, and was a delight from start to finish. Of special interest to me were Number 20, the Serial-style mystery of the missing black dildo (top photo) and Number 26: Immersed Theater (bottom photo, featuring SNM mask flying through the air).
On Saturday night I went to Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind with evenghostandhorse and lilymischief. I started drinking around 2pm that day at a farewell party for a friend, and by the time I arrived for the show around 10:30pm I was feeling pretty jovial, so of course I volunteered to be a bullshitting wine taster. My wines were “aggressive almost to the point of hostility,” “like when the subway doesn’t come late at night,” and “reminiscent of beans.” A good time was had by all.
