The very first time I saw Fury Road, on the way out I commented to my friend that I could not wait to see all the upcoming burlesque based on it. And lo and behold!

This act is from last week’s Nerdlesque Festival in NYC. I don’t know exactly who is who, but I do know they are all fantastic. The lineup credit is “Furiosa’s Femmes featuring members of Nerd Girl Burlesque, PeepshowTO, and Queen of Cups (Toronto CAN).”

If this is the sort of thing totes your goat, and of course it is, you should probably also watch this.

Let’s talk about Epic Win Burlesque for just a moment, shall we? Here are four facts you may not know about NYC’s nerdiest burlesque troop:

Epic Win is hosted by two people: magician and all around fancy guy Nelson Lugo, and the one and only Schaffer the Darklord, with whose rapping prowess you are no doubt already familiar.
Nerdapalooza 2011, the awkwardly-named music festival for which I am leaving tomorrow morning and at which I already know I will see many of you, is in fact being hosted by Epic Win, and there will be a burlesque show on Saturday night after The Protomen.
Last fall’s wildly popular Star Trek vs Star Wars show has been accepted to FringeNYC, the enormous local theatre festival that starts very soon. New Yorkers will have five chances to see the show along with dozens upon dozens of other awesome productions, and I strongly recommend that you do so.
I will be working on the Epic Win Fringe shows. Not in a boob-showing capacity, but in a getting-lots-of-shit-done sort of way that means you will probably get to see me and say hi if you come to one of our Fringe performances.

If you are not yet convinced of the dire importance of attending either the Nerdapalooza performance or one (or all) of the FringeNYC performances, perhaps more videos will sway you. Either way, I hope to see you there!

If you’ve ever felt like burlesque could use more fire and blood and/or that Game of Thrones could use (even more) nudity, then you probably would have enjoyed Hotsy Totsy’s Game of Tassels.

Top to bottom: Linda Chavez as Melisandre, Adele Wolf as an actual goddamn dragon, Apathy Angel as Shae, Peter Aguero as Hodor, Pearls Daily as Margaery Tyrell and Corvette Le Face as Khal Drogo, in an act slayed killed several stuffed animals and also the entire audience.

Last night was pretty much a perfect New York evening, the kind that makes me happier than I can say with my life as it is right now. And I don’t think there’s a better way to spend the evening of the 4th than at a picnic on the roof of the McKittrick, watching fireworks with friends & fellow drunks.
