And then it was the last week of the year
As you may have guessed, December just couldn’t let me get away without the return of my Annual Winter Diseasefest. The bulk of it was just an unpleasant but undramatic sort of chest cold, which meant a lot of evenings spent at home working my way through library books and eating delicious spicy chicken soup, homemade for me by my favorite partner-in-crime.

I know I'm shouting, I like to shout
Last week was such a crazy whirlwind of activity (and my head is currently such a crazy whirlwind of plague and mucus) that I pretty much have to piece together what’s been happening from the trail of photos and calendar events left in my wake. I will do my best.
I started off my Monday night at the I/O chiptune party at Niagara in the East Village. The lineup was ridiculous: Knife City,...

Gouda Vest
Emma: http://damnyouautocorrect.com/images/gouda-vest.jpg
Nicole: hahaha
Emma: mmm gouda vest
Nicole: for real
Emma: it's a stylish vest
Emma: and when you get hungry
Emma: you eat it
Nicole: sounds good to me
Emma: unless it's like a knitted vest for your gouda to wear
Emma: a cheese cozy
Nicole: I do enjoy gouda
Nicole: either way, really
Nicole: maybe it's where you keep your young gouda to age
Emma: in the gouda vest
Nicole: yes
Nicole: instead of in a cave or whatever
Emma: it seems reasonable
Emma: oh!
Emma: maybe a gouda vest is a normal vest, like a waistcoat, with lots of hidden pockets in which you can stash cheese sticks
Nicole: mmmmm
Emma: mmm
Nicole: none of these options is unpleasant
Emma: like a trenchcoat full of fake watches
Nicole: hahahahahahahahahahaha
Nicole: hahahahahahahaha
Emma: haha
Nicole: I am imagining cheese wheels
Nicole: pinned inside
Emma: hahaha
Nicole: weighing a person down
Emma: psssst
Emma: wanna see my gouda
Nicole: haha

I can feel it in my bones
As of last week, it’s now winter in NYC, pretty much out of nowhere. I’d been getting by just fine with a sweatshirt and maybe a scarf through all of November, but now the wind and snow flurries are rapidly putting an end to that. I guess it’s tough to complain about it being cold in December, though. Luckily, there are still plenty of things to do in the city. Inside.
Good beer...
