I’m not sure how the subject came up, but I got into a discussion with my coworkers today about hoarding. Of course I ended up revisiting the photos at the Squalor Survivors site, but I was also alerted to the existence of these Crazy eBay Mom photos which I’d never seen before. The latter is especially alarming to me given the tendency Chris and I have to allow junk mail and empty boxes to pile up a while before trashing them. If you ever drop by my apartment and discover that I’ve been killed by an avalanche of FreshDirect boxes, please don’t take photos and post them on the web.
Or if you do, make sure you include a shot of my mangled corpse.
I had a really hard time getting up this morning; I’m not entirely sure why as I had what should have been plenty of sleep last night. I find it hard to believe that I’m still getting over bronchitis nearly five weeks later, but I guess it’s a possibility.
I found an even cuter iPod case, which I’ll have to take a picture of as it doesn’t seem to be available online - it’s made by Tripp and has little baby studs and D-rings all over it. It’s adorable, perhaps even more adorable than the monster iPod case I linked the other day. Clearly the solution is to get both and let them fight to the death.
Tonight I’m supposed to go out for drinks with the usual philosophy crew, but for work- and tiredness-related reasons I’m not sure now that I will. We’ll see.

I know, I promised I’d be posting here while caoine.org is painstakingly reanimated and revealed in all its undead glory, but it seems I haven’t been. Here I am now, anyway.
So I have a delicious new iPod. Black, 60GB. Obviously. The thing of course is that it doesn’t quite fit in my old dock (even with the adapter) nor in my old case. The dock is easy enough to replace, but I think this time around I’m looking for something more interesting in a case. I’ve temporarily got it in a coin purse which works surprisingly well, but I think I’ll end up picking up one of these for more permanent use.
I’m also still on the quest for the perfect purse/bag hybrid; the old messenger bag I used while at NYU is overkill now that I don’t carry any textbooks but none of the many bags I’ve bought since then have really done it for me. Suggestions?
So yeah, the server that was hosting caoine.org suffered a sudden and painful death. I’m working on piecing things together on another box and setting the site up again, but in the meantime you can find me here. We’ll survive. Hold me.
Yeah, I’m still sick. It’s pretty rad, we’re going on a month now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s certainly a lot better than it was the first week - I have been back at work since then, for example - but I still have this horrible cough and a voice that’s only good for about twenty minutes of talking per day. I figure eventually it will go away, or kill me. Either way, really.
My site turns seven years old next week, something I’m especially aware of given how much I’ve been slacking on updating recently. I’m going to go ahead and continue my strategy of blaming most of that on being sick, and the rest of it on being busy. (My job doesn’t involve a lot of sitting around and reading Slashdot, that’s for sure.) But I know you folks come here hoping for something new, so I’ll do my best now that I’m rejoining the land of the living.
This should be a measure of how out of it I’ve been lately: I waited six months for tickets to see a taping of The Daily Show, and a couple of weeks ago I was finally notified that I had two tickets for the 8th. That was yesterday. I remembered that I had these tickets about twenty minutes after the taping had already started, when I was heading home from work. Ah well - I guess that’s what TiVo is for.
I’m beginning to feel like a human again, but I’m still (still!) coughing. I’m told this isn’t unusual for bronchitis, but it’s awfully annoying - it’s the kind of cough where I wake up from a sound sleep and find myself in the middle of a coughing fit. And then I can’t get back to sleep for a good forty five minutes, because I’m too busy coughing. It’s almost as much fun as it sounds, really!
Chris and I finally got around to going out for my belated birthday dinner on Monday, which was fun. We hit up Bobby Van’s, where we ate ourselves silly and still couldn’t come close to finishing what we ordered. Delicious, though.
Other than that it’s just life as usual - work, Warcraft, sleep. Not enough of the last two, in my opinion, but I can’t really complain. I think if I could just inhale without coughing, I’d be pretty happy.
