Hurr

My folks were visiting New York this weekend, so we spent most of it in a whirlwind of family fun. My brother recently moved from the Village to Long Island City, so on Saturday we braved the rain to go see some of the local art - specifically, PS1 and the Sculpture Center, which had some interesting stuff (though nothing as rad as my dad’s work).

We also caught the Wallace & Gromit movie, which was pretty great. The theater was packed to the gills with kids - in retrospect, a newly opened children’s movie on a rainy Saturday afternoon may have been a poor choice - but we enjoyed it anyway.

I finally got around to watching the new Skinny Puppy DVD last night, which is awesome. The footage from last year brought me right back to November (and June), only without the drunken apes elbowing me in the kidneys. Score! The Eurotrauma footage was a treat, although it left me a little sad about Dwayne.

And today makes it three years that I’ve been with Chris, and I love him more than ever. We have some plans - maybe I’ll tell you about them tomorrow. If you’re good.

Etc

I have nothing especially interesting to talk about today - I know, I know, I rarely have anything especially interesting to talk about. But I’ve been sitting here for about ten minutes staring at the cursor trying to think of something to say, so I figured I’d comment on that.

Things are going pretty well this week, I think. Work is a little crazy, but work is always a little crazy. My parents will be here this weekend, and Chris and I may finally get around to getting a mattress, which will be my first post-college non-futon mattress ever. It’s not that I don’t like futons - well, okay, it is that I don’t like futons. They’re horrible and they make my back hurt, especially when they’re a couple years old and getting lumpy.

The weather is more humid than I like, but temperature-wise I can’t complain.

Slacker

I’ve had a TiVo for probably a month now and it’s still sitting in its box, I haven’t bothered to set it up yet. There are three DVDs from Netflix sitting on the coffee table that have been waiting to be viewed and returned for at least a couple of weeks. And I’ve had the new Skinny Puppy DVD since it came out last week, but I haven’t watched it yet. I don’t even play Warcraft anymore, really, except for the occasional stint on weekend mornings.

What’s wrong with me? I’m seriously slacking on my entertainmentual duties. All I want to do when I get home from work is eat dinner and spend some time with Chris and watch the Daily Show and go to bed.

And that’s when I haven’t been drinking.

Buh

Another good weekend that went by too quickly - it seems like one minute I’m walking out of the office on Friday evening, and the next minute my alarm is going off on Monday morning.

Thursday night I got sloshed with Al and Morgan and George and the rest of the crew, which was fun as always, though I suffered for it a bit on Friday morning. On Friday night, Chris and I hit up MrTails’s birthday party, which was everything it should have been - filled to capacity with drunken geeks having a blast. His apartment is also home to the two tiniest, sweetest cats in the entire world, who served to remind us just how huge (and mean) our own dear Tigger really is.

I spent most of Saturday mildly hungover, but Sunday we went to see my brother’s really nice new apartment and have a slightly belated birthday brunch. We are jealous of their jacuzzi (which resides in one of their TWO bathrooms) and their skylights.

Today I’m just tired and wishing for more weekend. It’s supposed to be 82 later, which strikes me as really unfair, though it felt nicely chilly this morning. I’m just longing to see highs in the 60s, but I suppose you can’t have all dog pups.
