The good news: last night Chris and I replaced my old CD-RW drive with a new DVD drive sent along by the almighty Scott, and I finally got to install Tiger.

The bad news: a chain of unfortunate and wildly implausible events over the past day or so have led to the destruction of pretty much all the data on my 120gb external hard drive. (That’s the pimp drive, for those of you playing along at home.)

Given the nature of the situation, it’s probable that DriveSavers or others of their ilk would be able to recover some or most of my data, but I don’t really have the money to throw at it right now, so it’s more likely that I’ll be saying farewell to the pimp drive instead. I’m already in mourning, actually.
