You Betcha

We’re kicking off our weekend with some Fargo and no air conditioning at all because of this fantastic weather, may it last for ever and ever. This morning there was the kind of slight chill in the air that lets you believe for just a minute that August (and indeed the entire ghastly summer season) will be over sooner rather than later, and we’ll all be able to wear hoodies and drink hot coffee without being in a climate–controlled environment. It will be back in the 80s next week, of course, but today - well, today was a glorious day.

Also Kill Bill

Chris and I finally gave in and signed up for Netflix on Tuesday night, and we got our first two movies today (yeah, I thought we’d get all three, too). There’s nothing like coming home tipsy and finding Silence of the Lambs ready and begging to be watched.

Incidentally - we’ve had our account for all of two days, and there are already 57 DVDs in our queue.

Update: As of this morning, make that 76. (I like the part where it says “Most customers add 6-10 movies to their Rental Queue during their first visit.”)

Your Action Item List

1. Welcome rstevens to MacBlog. Maybe with noodles or something, I don’t know.

2. Stop emailing me with German song titles. Well, okay, maybe just fifty more.

3. Buy me some more instant Thai noodles.

But I Do Know It’s In German

Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a song when you don’t know the title, artist, album name, or any of the lyrics? It’s pretty fucking hard. You know, in case you were wondering.

I Hate You, Milkman Water Main

It’s funny how losing your water for twelve hours because of a water main break outside your building really makes you appreciate the little things - like making a pot of coffee, brushing your teeth, and flushing the toilet. We keep a couple of gallon jugs of water filled in the kitchen just for situations like this, but all the same, things were looking pretty grim by the time our blessed water came back earlier this evening. I wasn’t looking forward to trying to get ready for work tomorrow with no water, but now that it’s back on I can go to sleep knowing that the chances of having to commute while smelly are slim to none.
