iTunes 4.5

I downloaded the new iTunes and the new iPod software, and while there’s nothing earthshattering about either update, I noticed that playcounts for tracks in iTunes now include playcounts from the iPod, which wasn’t always the case. I don’t know whether it changed with this most recent update, or whether it happened a while ago and I didn’t notice at the time.

The iMix stuff is interesting too, but I won’t have time to really play with it until The Last God Damned Paper I’ll Ever Write As An Undergrad is finished.

Countdown

I haven’t slept like a human being in several days now, but things are starting to wrap up. I took a midterm (a midterm) on Monday, turned in a Java project yesterday, and finished a paper on Sartre this morning. I have one paper and four finals to go. Two weeks from now, if all goes well, I’ll have turned in my cap and gown and should be well on my way to drunk. But I don’t want to tempt fate.

Free Cone Day

Today is Free Cone Day at most Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shops. Last year tips were donated to the Breast Cancer Fund, and this year it looks like they’re teaming up with Rock The Vote. I’ll probably stop by for my free scoop of coffee even though I’m already registered to vote.

It looks like there won’t be a Strawberry Festival at NYU this year, though. Big Fun Days have been discontinued in favor of specialty events like the Grad Student Welcome and the Senior Strawberries and Champagne Toast. I guess it’s good news for the seniors - we still get our strawberries, only now we get booze, too!

Train Fun

Tonight on my way home, I was happy to see that the train was mostly empty (since on Mondays and Wednesdays I’m in an epistemology seminar until well after rush hour). At the next stop, though, this guy sits down directly across from me and immediately starts picking his nose. We’re talking a finger in up to the knuckle, that kind of thing. So I moved to the other end of the car. Then at the next stop a woman sits down across from me at that end and starts flossing. Flossing, on the train. These are times when it’s better to just crank up the iPod and pretend to be asleep, I think.

It’s That Time Again

Once again, we’re coming up on the end of the semester. Expect posting to be light for the next week or two, I’ve got more crap to do than I care to think about.

Iron Chef America

I watched the first episode of Iron Chef America tonight, and it while it wasn’t as bizarre as the original, it was still pretty entertaining. I miss Chairman Kaga and all the goofy dubbing, but it’s also nice to be able to understand all the bitchy comments the chefs make to their assistants. And I actually had a vague idea what Flay’s dishes would taste like, while I don’t usually have a clue about the stuff the other Iron Chefs make. I’ll watch the other two battles, but there definitely needs to be more pepper-biting.

I Heart Smart Playlists

In a similar lists-instead-of-content vein, I thought I’d post my current Top 25 Most Played playlist from iTunes. The only one I’m embarrassed about is the Animotion song, but hey - it’s on the Vice City soundtrack, so it’s always getting stuck in my head. I did expect to see more White Stripes and the other indie stuff I thought I listened to a lot, but it looks like my inner clubslut reigns supreme (at least for now). This is, however, only from the past six weeks or so - Chris and I consolidated our mp3 collections, and everything got reimported into iTunes.

No Strike

According to the briefest of blurbs in the WSN, it looks like the strike is off. Which I guess should make everyone happy, except the undergrads who were looking for a vaguely political excuse to skip class.
