Let’s All Go To The Lobby
In addition to watching Reloaded (twice) and The Matrix (one and a half times) this weekend, I also finally saw The Ring. I’m aware that it’s a remake, and that the original is supposed to be much better (surprise surprise). However, Chiisu and I were honestly baffled at how bad it was. We’d both been told for months that even the remake was this stunning masterpiece, “the scariest movie since The Exorcist.” We both thought it was blindingly dull, unbearably cheesy, and so far beyond predictable that we couldn’t even bring ourselves to the level of interest in stating the obvious that actually making predictions about it would have required. Oh my god, a harried-but-caring single mom with the same dumbfounded (emphasis on dumb) expression through the entire tortured two hours? What’s that? The crazy-but-attractive high school girl in the mental institution speaks cryptic words of wisom while the creepy little kid hears the voice of a dead little kid in his head? You don’t fucking say. We’re still holding out hope for the original, but half-heartedly so.
