Typing With Vinyl Gloves Is Not That Easy

Caught a second viewing of The Matrix: Reloaded last night with kung fu master Crispy and the redhead Twins. While I understand the standard sequel disappointment that’s been floating around since Wednesday, and I agree that Reloaded does share some problems typical of all-middle movies, I quite liked it. I do wish I hadn’t read that Wired article, though. I ended up looking much too closely at the Burly Brawl, and of course because I was looking so closely it was obvious when the action switched back and forth between filmed portions and all-rendered images. There were a couple moments when things were definitely off - the Smiths still have the weird CGI flailing-limb issues that a lot of films have fallen prey to, and some textures were a little too smooth, but that’s really the only scene that I noticed problems with. We’re planning on seeing it again when it hits IMAX theatres, which should be fun. Watching Trinity use nmap to hack the Gibson exploit an ssh server probably won’t get old for a while.
