big fun days

nyu, and specifically the college of arts and science, holds a number of events throughout the academic year which, while momentarily diverting, have gotten a bit old. it doesn’t appear to matter whether we’re celebrating valentine’s day or halloween or, in this case, strawberries; they’re all just variations on a theme. the theme is: decorate a room or other designated area with appropriately colored balloons, set up several tables at which students can receive stuff, play appropriate music, rinse, repeat. now mind you, i’m all about the reception of stuff, which at nyu events usually consists of free condoms and free food, but is this really all they can think of? is there no other means of celebration available to the nyu community beyond condoms and decorative balloons?

that said, the strawberries were excellent and my only actual complaint about “berried treasure: strawberry festival 2002″ is the mild sunburn i incurred during participation. but then, it’s not like sunburns are a rarity with me. happy may, et cetera.
