oh my

now this is sexy.

hurr

so it’s a gorgeous (if windy) saturday afternoon and i’m sitting in an nyu lab working on my paper. the good part is that i’m more or less done; i’ve got a freshly laserprinted (still warm!) copy of this ten page monstrosity that i could hand in right now if i had to, but i think i might revise it a little more tomorrow. the bad part is if i revise it more, that means i either have to come into the city yet again tomorrow to print out the new version, or try to get it done before my class at nine monday morning. we’ll see.

i keep thinking it’s sunday, because i’m almost never mostly done with my work on a saturday. i mean, there’s still plenty i have left to do - india reading i didn’t do during midterms, another einstein exam coming up - but the huge big scary bit is over, essentially.

i will probably meet up with spencer in a little for lunch or whatever before i head back to brooklyn. tonight? i don’t have any idea. i had assumed i would be holed up all weekend with this paper, so i haven’t even thought about possibly going out. perhaps.

WHOOOOOOOSH

so a long time ago someone told me i should eat those luna bar things. you know the ones. no, not lunacrow, luna bar. they are made by the people who make CLIF bars which i guess you are supposed to eat if you are a mountain climber who cannot spell.

anyway i used to have them for breakfast at work a lot because there was a store right next to my office that had them and they actually taste kind of good and it’s easier than cooking real food for breakfast! so now i have taken to getting one on occasion to leave in my bag for when i have like an hour between classes and am starving to death. yes, i realize that they are silly and expensive and probably do not really have any chick-specific superpowers BUT i like them anyway. it’s an entire meal squashed into this little tiny bar! it is like SPACE FOOD! when i eat one i feel like i am in a bad fifties science fiction comic. OH NO JOHNNY, WE FORGOT TO TAKE OUR FOOD PILLS, MAYBE THERE ARE SOME IN THE HOVERCAR! I PARKED IT BY THE CLIF

oh and

just a reminder: monday’s the last day to order a shirt! i’ve got more than enough orders for the minimum print run, so i may do a second run eventually, but it might not be for a couple months. for those of you who have already ordered: the shirts will probably be printed early next week, and shipped sometime soon after that, but i don’t know exactly when. i’ll keep you updated.

what with the spring

i guess it’s officially spring now or something, but you can’t really tell. the weather’s been nutty all this week; way colder than before and raining and everything. wednesday was fun like that; it was pouring supercold rain and also really windy, so the second you went outside you were drenched in freezing water. if this is spring, i’d like to go back to winter.

my midterm went well i think. going over my essays now i feel like one of them was a lot stronger than the other, but i think the other was at least okay, if not great. went to the pub afterwards and talked it over with some of the other people in my class. mostly though it was just a standard thursday - we drank and argued about porn and kant.

this weekend i’m mainly concerned with writing this paper due monday (thought it was due wednesday - oops). i think i’m heading over to bobst a little later to take notes on some of the stuff my professor put on reserve; might also see spencer. then it’s just writing for the next couple days i think.

yeah

i’m not really a fan of libraries, i have to say. i remember trekking to the boston public library and later widener for research papers and finding the whole enormous-pile-of-books thing sort of appealing in a purely aesthetic way, but actually trying to accomplish anything within said pile was a little overwhelming. it seems ridiculous somehow that it’s still necessary to go physically find specific little bunches of paper within this gigantic fucking building specifically designed to house little bunches of paper. i’m spoiled, i keep thinking this should all be text files. that’s not to say i don’t like books - i do, i adore them. but not in a massive-quantity-of research kind of way.

so yeah, i spent most of today holed up in the reserve section of bobst. i managed to get about a third of that paper written; i’m thinking i’ll tackle the rest of it tomorrow. the rest of tonight is for insanely spicy ramen and for the other work i have this weekend.

in the last installment of nyu mac lab adventures, we met FLOPPY GIRL, who tried unsuccesfully (and repeatedly) to use a floppy in a g4’s zip drive. it’s been a couple of weeks since i’ve been back to this particular lab, but today there are little pink signs taped to every g4 that say ZIP DISKS ONLY. perhaps this will aid in floppy girl confusion!

i have al’s midterm in a couple of hours. i should probably be more worried than i am - it’s two questions that will count for up to fifty percent of my final grade, depending on whether or not i write the optional paper (i probably will). none of my other midterms have been worth more than twenty or twenty five percent. but this is ethical theory - i’m pretty comfortable with it, and it’s at least partially familiar since i had intro ethics a couple years ago. i’m meeting up with melody again in a couple of hours to study some more, but as of now the only thing i’m a little concerned about, really, is that i’m not very concerned at all.
