so my parents and four of their friends are in town for the weekend; i had dinner with them tonight here. it’s a tiny little italian place, i really have no idea how they managed to squeeze a party of seven in as well as the other customers but they did. the food was fabulous - i had penne alla vodka and a slice of pear tart with hazelnut ice cream. yum. relatively cheap too, for its location and how good the food is.
after dinner we wandered back up to union square and walked around the holiday market they have set up there, all sorts of crafts and clothes and weird things. last year i did all my xmas shopping there, and i would be doing the same this year if i had any real money to spend. my mum and dad bought me a paper star-shaped lantern with a light bulb socket and everything; i have it hanging over my bed and it’s gorgeous.
speaking of shopping, i’ve gotten several requests for wishlists of what i’m hoping for; i don’t expect anyone to actually buy me anything but i’m certainly not going to turn it down. my amazon wishlist is the only one i’ve got at the moment. i’ll probably be adding things to that as i think of them and making a thinkgeek one as well.
spent most of the morning on the phone with nyu trying to finalize everything for next semester; apparently i can’t really do anything until next week at the earliest. bleh.
i’m almost done reading fellowship of the ring yet again; i had originally intended to just reread it and not the rest of the series before the movie comes out in a couple of weeks, but i ended up going through the two towers and return of the king again as well. since i want fellowship freshest in my mind, i figure i might as well make my way through it once more.
i’m probably going to go do dishes in a little. my apartment is almost completely clean now; not quite but getting there. of course, it’s no match for colin’s, which looks like something out of an ikea catalog only with more toys, but it’s not so bad. spencer was astounded at how little it resembles the place he lived in for three years; while i still have some of his furniture, i have changed everything quite a bit. i just need a new god damned bookshelf.
tomorrow or friday i’ll probably go see gundam again; i had lunch with him yesterday, which was really good. we might go see the harry potter movie again, which i wouldn’t mind at all. unfortunately the gorgeous white roses he bought for me friday are dying now but i’m going to dry them i think so it’s all good.
i’ve had this low-grade headache for like the past three days that develops into an incredibly sharp pain once in a while. it’s really fun, you should try it. i think i have been too stressed and irritated, and as such am going to go take a really long bath and make tea.
when i wasn’t popping excedrin today, i was playing some old infocom games - zork 1 and 2, hitchiker - just because. it was fun dealing with grues and babel fishes and everything again, as much as i love jgr and mgs2 and whatnot.
i was going to go over to colin’s tonight for more thps3 goodness, but i decided against it. my throat’s bothering me again and i just wasn’t really in the mood. so instead i had a lazy night in with spencer; we went down to the royal for some (surprisingly excellent) pizza, walked around, watched movies, played some jgr, talked for a really long time. it was good. i used to hang out with spencer pretty much constantly when we lived (and worked) together, and while i like living on my own now and everything, it’s cool to see him every so often.
now i think it’s bathtime followed by reading in bed, because i can.
so it’s december now; i suppose fall is officially over. it’s weird though, with the exception of today the past week or two has been quite warm, and even today isn’t nearly as cold as i’d expect for december. thursday night there was this gorgeous fog everywhere - i was at colin’s for gaming fun and walking to the train on my way home was really eerily nice. fog aside, i also had fun molesting colin’s gamecube - tony hawk’s pro skater 3 (to which my thps2 skills apparently don’t translate at all!), super monkey ball, luigi’s mansion - all good stuff. we also got our mgs2 on - even playing it for three straight days in seattle hasn’t sated my appetite for it, although i’m assured that i’ll be chewing my own limbs off in horror by the time i get to the ending.
friday gundam and i went to johnny rocket’s for our four month dinner. they make a surprisingly good veggie burger, i was a happy camper. gundam brought me a dozen gorgeous white roses and a frodo action figure - it’s supposed to be elijah wood, but it doesn’t really resemble him at all. nonetheless it’s cool and will soon be joining the menagerie on my desk, no doubt.
i spent most of saturday working on something for pa, which was time consuming but not unentertaining. which is good, since i have a lot more of it to do. gundam and i also watched clerks and 12 monkeys again, because why not.
today was more pa work, laundry, cleaning up my apartment a bit, fun stuff like that. i still have more to clean, but i’m going to leave it till tomorrow since this reoccuring headache i’ve had all weekend is back and is refusing to budge. hooray.
