i’m sorry, am i missing something? was i absent the day it was decided that casual racism is now de rigeur among long island teenagers? i don’t know if it’s that i’m older or that i’m from massachusetts or that i have friends of more races, creeds, and sexual orientations than i can count, but i’m fucking scoobied by this phenomenon. do these kids honestly not see how incredibly offensive it is to loudly point out every non-caucasian person they see, to refer to muslims as “sand niggers”, or to boast that “there’s not a single nigger on my block”? to call every race that is not your own collectively “them” and talk about the “good ones” as the ones who “act like they’re white”? am i the only one shocked by this? fuck you if you think this kind of behavior is acceptable in my presence or on my irc server, and fuck you futher for trying to defend it.

what set this off? well, a number of things, but primarily this kid - his behavior in general and this entry in particular, from which i quote: “I don’t really consider myself a real full time racist, but more of someone who gets a little antzy when I’m surrounded by them or when one walks down my block…because there are no blacks on my block.”

i find it incredibly depressing that it’s almost 2002 and this shit is still more common than spam in my inbox.
