today
hurble durble.
spent most of the weekend working on my dad’s site, which you are welcome to peruse at your leisure, although i’m still tweaking it. there’s a new heap of photos i just got that i need to add to the gallery, also. he’s got a show coming up next week so i’m trying to get it looking halfway decent for that. his work is really incredible; the photos don’t even do the sculptures justice, though. in person they’re awe-inspiring. some of them are quite enormous, too.
today adam and two of his friends drove to nyc from boston for some memorial day fun, so i took them shopping and such. we hit st mark’s, where i got this adorable black vinyl top to go with one of my corsets, then went to generation and whatnot. we had lunch at dojo, which was good, although their soyburger leaves much to be desired. we wandered around the village some more and got sort of hot and scruffy, so we stopped at reggio for drinks. i tried their mephisto for the first time - it’s amazing. it’s quite thick and is mostly strawberry ice cream with amaretto. their brie on toast is also tasty. after shopping fun we hit the empire state building, which had hellish lines but was really cool once we got to the top. i hadn’t been there since last summer when i went up with james to watch the sunset on the one year anniversary of my move to new york. adam wanted to throw various farm animals off the top of the building, and we tried to do the math to figure out the speed at which the can of red bull i had in my bag would be travelling when it hit the ground, but it’s been years since i took physics. all i remember is that accelertion due to gravity is something like 9.81 m/s/s.
after the empire state building we tried to go to forbidden planet, but they were closed early because of memorial day. we walked down fourth towards where they had left their car, and stopped in this shop at which one of spencer’s psychotic exes happens to work. that was sort of funny. all in all it was fun, and i’m tired. i’m working on more of my dad’s stuff now. hurrah.
