this unemployment thing isn’t so bad, you know, if you look at it as a vacation.

i went by my office yesterday and picked up the rest of my stuff; it’s a great feeling knowing i’ll never have to go back there. i got my last check in the mail, too, and while it seems they might have screwed me on a couple of days, at least it’s something.

i met up with gundam, also. we went for food at this place called maui tacos [that site i just linked is theirs, but it's awful. don't bother.], which has some great vegetarian stuff. after we went by work, where we were joined by spencer, the three of us headed to union square to go see snatch. i really enjoyed it; i used to be very anti-brad pitt but i have to say he’s not that bad. plus the movie theatre had these cherry slushies, which was perfect for me, since you know how i’m all cold, and fruity.

incidentally, it occurs to me that i haven’t really talked about the weekend at all. hot soup came to visit, and we had tons o’ fun. i took him clubbing on saturday, and he and gundam and i did some rav0rspotting.sunday we had dinner at 7A with spencer and lucid and then wandered around the village for a bit before the four of us headed for coffee at yaffa. monday we were up early and i took him on a mini-tour of downtown manhattan. it was really entertaining. also, there was much gaming involved. good stuff.

i just ordered my new g4. excuse me while i bounce. dual 533 g4, 384 megs ram, geforce 2, 40 gig drive, cd-rw….. mmmmmmmmmmmm. when it arrives, i’m installing linux ppc on my old mac and i’ll have the sexy box to run photoshop on and a linux box to code on. w00t w00t!

i’m starting a redesign of caoine.org. i’m not going to get too deeply into it till i have the new machine to work on, but i’m playing around with a few different ideas. i’m going into manhattan later today to get stuff from my office - both my physical stuff, like my desk toys and whatnot, and an archive of the personal work i had on smack there.

oh, so here’s a funny tidbit for you. when i first started working on penny arcade, they were still under contract with efront. that’s since changed, and efront are being heartily discredited on many fronts. there was recently an article on slashdot about some icq logs between efront employees that were leaked, and it turns out i’m in them in a few places. at one point, they talk about hiring me for their own web design work. which is pretty funny, considering.

anyway, i need to go fantisize about my g4 some more. i’ll write again later.

yes, i’ve been very bad. i know.

tuesday morning jons and i woke up and called the port authority to find out about his bus, and were told that there weren’t any buses leaving new york that day at all because of the snow storm. so i got to keep him for an extra day. he was still feeling kind of grody so we mostly just lazed around and played dreamcast games. also, i discovered that he’s very, very ticklish. endless hours of amusement! we ventured out for sandwiches at one point and realized it was a good thing we didn’t have to go into manhattan after all - the weather was damn nasty. really windy, really cold, lots of snow.

the snow had mostly melted when we woke up on wednesday, however, and while it was still cold it at least wasn’t windy so it felt warmer. way too sunny, though [i need to get myself some decent sunglasses]. i went out and got us coffee and bagels and jons started packing. we had to leave for the bus station around eleven thirty. after i saw him off at his bus, i stopped at the sanrio store on 42nd street, then headed home.

yesterday i was completely and totally lazy. all i did was watch movies and play tony hawk. but it was fun.

hot soup is coming to visit me this weekend, actually. he’s arriving at jfk tonight, which means i need to do some mad apartment cleaning today, and figure out how i’m getting to jfk. i’ve never been there before; i figure i’ll just take a car service.

jons seems to have come down with a cold or something, which is no fun. he was going to go home this afternoon, but what with the supposedly impending snowstorm [so far all we've had is a chilly rain, but that aside] it was decided he would be better off doing the bus thing tomorrow.

albion on saturday was good; we left around three thirty because of tiredness and whatnot. gundam and Strict9 were there, as were spencer, naomi, dino, krystal, syren, etc etc. the usuals. a good time was had by all.

so far, today has consisted primarily of sleeping and playing thps2. i’m still awful, but i’m slightly less awful, which is encouraging.

penny arcade’s new strip today is hilarious; it reminds me of my own attitude toward stupid people: lots and lots of sarcasm.

we woke up around noon, i think. i wasn’t really keeping track of the time. did the irc thing for a while, said hi to people on icq, etc etc. eventually our stomachs started reminding us that we skipped both dinner last night and breakfast this morning, so we ordered some italian food [thanks to spenz0r who found us the number for rocco's cause he is the MAN], which took for-fucking-EVER to get here. it showed up finally though and we settled in with our pasta and garlic bread and watched fear and loathing in las vegas; it’s gundam’s copy actually, he left it here a while ago. then jons decided to take a nap, which he is still doing. i’m feeling like i might take a nap soon too, actually, since we’re planning on batcaving tonight and i’ll want to be awake for that. we’ll see.

either way, i need to go take a shower now, so i think i’ll do that. incidentally, despite his denial, hot soup is cute.

so jonathans is here right now. on my bed, in fact. in really cute pajamas. we’re sleepy. we’re going to bed soon.

my mind’s not really working right now. i’m very tired. see you tomorrow.

i’ve been talking to hot soup a lot lately; he’s mad cool. and despite his protestations otherwise, he is cute.

jonathans is coming to new york this weekend, yay! i’m picking him up at the bus station tomorrow afternoon for a weekend of drunken debauchery and wanton hedonism, or something. probably we’ll play a lot of dreamcast games and go get drunk saturday at batcave. either way, i’m looking forward to it. woohoo!

no, i’m not going to elaborate on me getting laid off. thanks to all of you for your concern and sympathy, though. and yes, i’m accepting freelance offers till i find another permanent full time job
